Skills for a circular and green economy: leading the sustainable transition

As the world accelerates efforts toward sustainability, the transition to a circular and green economy calls for a fundamental shift in the way we develop and apply skills. This session focuses on developing competencies for circular manufacturing, sustainable production, and green innovation while ensuring just transition. Building a workforce that can lead this transformation requires not only technical expertise but also strong transversal skills and inclusive strategies.

Through short presentations of hands-on examples and recent research, the session explored which technical and transversal skills are most critical for the green and circular transition. It also examined how TVET providers can rapidly integrate sustainability into all programs and what role regional skills ecosystems play in driving sustainable development
